Réjean Boivin is a financial business leader with 30+ years of healthcare actuarial, underwriting, and finance experience. With a proven ability to improve business insights and risk analysis by developing and applying better financial metrics and analytical models, he is a dependable, customer-focused business partner who delivers strategic thinking, accountability, strong actuarial/financial analytical skills, and business acumen. A highly effective teammate, he employs unique skills honed over 33 years of playing and coaching elite ice hockey. Mr. Boivin recently joined Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina as Vice President, Chief Actuary, where he is leading the actuarial and underwriting teams. Prior to this, he spent eight years as Vice President, Chief Actuary at AmeriHealth Caritas where he led a team of associates to drive forecasting, reserve valuation, revenue management, and trend analytics for Medicaid and all other markets. Previously, he served in various actuarial/financial roles with Independence Blue Cross, AmeriHealth New Jersey, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Mr. Boivin earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Colgate University, where he was an All-American and a Hobey Baker Award finalist while captaining the school’s Division I ice hockey team. After Colgate, he played professional hockey for Porin Ässät (Finnish Elite League) and then completed two years of post-graduate study at Laval University (Québec) Actuarial School. A Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, he has spent over 14 years as a volunteer youth hockey coach.
